Pro2Pac wraps up another successful show

Pro2Pac set out to make waves in the packaging industry this year, and the number of visitors who came through the doors during the four-day event certainly delivered on this promise.

The organisers have announced that last month’s show saw an increase in visitor numbers, resulting in a staggering total attendance figure of 14,156 food and drink industry professionals, all keen to see the latest packaging concepts from leading suppliers, processors and manufacturers.

The exhibition floor proved to be a vibrant hub of activity with leading industry players expressing their delight at the quality and quantity of people arriving at their stands.  During the event from 13 – 16 March 2011, the show welcomed professionals from across the globe looking to source the latest solutions from over 120 exhibitors in attendance. By the end of the three-day show, delegates were in no doubt that Pro2Pac remains the leading processing and packaging event for the food and drink industry.

David Henderson at Orbital Food Machinery, an exhibitor at the event, commented: “We’ve had an absolutely phenomenal show, with almost 150 enquiries after just three days! It’s been brilliant for sourcing new clients, especially international ones. I’d recommend Pro2Pac to everybody.”

The show also welcomed a number of first-time exhibitors keen to share their concepts and solutions with the high calibre visitors who walked through the doors. Zoe Grunbridge at Tinware Direct explained:

“This is the first time we have exhibited at Pro2Pac, and we’re really impressed. The show’s been very busy and we’ve been able to make lots of new contacts who we will certainly be following-up with.”

As always with Pro2Pac, there was a packed line-up of features that ensured both visitors and exhibitors were informed of the latest industry technologies and trends.

The Packaging Design Challenge was a hub of creativity as a range of top packaging designers went head to head with their ideas for the future. A new feature for this year’s show, the competition showcased innovative designs for the food and drink market in categories such as Food and Drink on the Go and Luxury Food and Drink Packaging. In the end it was Alison Bateman who beat off stiff competition from the likes of Bapco Closures and F8 Design to scoop the accolade for her unique Handle-it concept, which saw great interested from a number of drink brands. Speaking of her win, Alison commented:

“I’m delighted to win the Packaging Design Award with Handle-it! The competition has been a great platform for me and I’ve really been able to broaden my business opportunities. I’ve been able to see some interesting and diverse products and would recommend the show, not only to freelance designers, but to anyone in the industry.”

The Packaging Innovation Seminars were also full to the brim with buyers and technology providers looking to equip themselves with the most up-to-date industry knowledge for a successful year ahead. Speakers including Innocent Drinks and Morrisons drew in packed audiences and equipped the audience with the latest details on topical issues such as heat seal integrity and the anaerobic digestion process. Mintel International also spoke about the relevance of packaging in areas including health, convenience and the environment, sharing exclusive global data and revealing the newest consumer and marketing trends.

Drawing on the show’s success, Graham Earl, Pro2Pac Exhibition Director, concluded: “We are delighted with the turn out at this year’s show. There was a great buzz on the floor and the amount of business being conducted is testament to that. The feedback has been great so far, with many exhibitors enthusiastic about the new partnerships and business leads they have secured. The show really does provide a unique platform for buyers and suppliers to make contacts and drive future developments in the food and drink processing and packaging industry – and we’re proud we could facilitate such a great event.”
