Courtauld 2: the industry's view
Seminar Details Retailers and brands are constantly pushing to improve the environmental impact of their packaging. They first came together in 2005 to form an industry-wide agreement on how they would do this: the Courtauld Commitment. Under it, they would cut the weight of their packaging by 2010; some 1.2m tonnes of packaging weight were saved during that time. When the second generation of the Courtauld Commitment launched last year, the weight measure changed to a wider range of metrics including carbon footprint, recycled material content and a broader view of the product lifecycle. In this presentation, Packaging News editor Josh Brooks will present the results of a survey conducted among Packaging News readers, Pro2Pac exhibitors and visitors on their impressions of the Courtauld Commitment, including views on the success of the first generation; the balance of environmental metrics in Courtauld 2; and what they would like to see from future versions of the Commitment.
